TRANSITION TO SCHOOL PROGRAM

Confident and Ready for Primary School

Our Transition to School Program has been thoughtfully developed in collaboration with Early Childhood Teachers and local Primary School educators to support a confident, connected start to formal schooling. Guided by our commitment to curiosity, connection, and care, the program helps children build the skills, independence, and self-assurance they need as they move into their first year of Primary School.

Building school readiness skills

Throughout the year, our Transition to School Program focuses on the core skills children need for a confident, connected start to Primary School. Guided by children’s curiosity and supported by warm relationships, we introduce key foundations that help them feel capable, prepared, and proud of their growing independence.

Children engage in:

  • Name identification and early writing skills

  • Fine motor development including correct pencil grip

  • Letter recognition, phonics, and early literacy

  • Counting, number recognition, and simple numeracy concepts

  • Cutting, gluing, and using classroom materials independently

  • Self-help skills such as managing school bags, lunchboxes, and belongings

  • Social skills like turn-taking, cooperation, and problem-solving

These experiences reflect our commitment to curiosity, connection, and care, helping each child step into school with confidence and a strong sense of belonging.

Embedded into our daily Preschool routine.

Our Transition to School Program is woven into the daily Preschool curriculum in small, supportive group settings led by each child’s key educator. This approach allows children to revisit and build on important skills throughout the year, supporting confidence, connection, and a strong sense of mastery. Through consistent, nurturing guidance, children feel secure, capable, and ready for their next learning step.

Supporting confidence and independence.

Starting school is a big step, and our program places just as much importance on emotional wellbeing as it does on skill development. Through warm relationships and thoughtful guidance, we support each child to build resilience, form friendships, and grow their confidence. By nurturing a genuine love for learning, children approach school feeling connected, capable, and ready for the journey ahead.

Developed with educators and schools.

Our Transition to School Program has been shaped in collaboration with our educators and local Primary Schools, ensuring alignment with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). By understanding school expectations and working closely with the wider learning community, we create continuity, consistency, and a confident transition for children as they move into Kindergarten.

Part of the NSW Start Strong initiative.

Our Transition to School Program is supported through the NSW Government Start Strong Program, enabling eligible children to access government-funded preschool hours.
