Transition to School Program

The Transition to School Program at Early Learners Hub has been thoughtfully designed in collaboration with Early Childhood Teachers and local Primary School educators to ensure every child is well-prepared for the exciting step into formal schooling.

Building school readiness skills

Throughout the year, our program focuses on key skills that children need for a successful transition to school. These include:

  • Name identification and early writing skills

  • Fine motor development including correct pencil grip

  • Letter recognition, phonics, and early literacy

  • Counting, number recognition, and simple numeracy concepts

  • Cutting, gluing, and using classroom materials independently

  • Self-help skills such as managing school bags, lunchboxes, and belongings

  • Social skills like turn-taking, cooperation, and problem-solving

Embedded into our daily preschool routine

Our Transition to School Program runs as part of the daily curriculum in small, supportive group settings led by each child’s key educator. This allows children to revisit and consolidate these important skills regularly throughout the year, building confidence and mastery.

Supporting confidence and independence

Starting school can feel overwhelming, which is why our program also places strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing. We work with each child to build resilience, develop friendships, and foster a love for learning that will carry into their school years.

Developed with educators and schools

We understand the expectations of local Primary Schools and tailor our Transition to School Program to align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), ensuring continuity and consistency as children move into Kindergarten.
